After Uta Barth

Uta Barth is careful to edit out elements that invite narrative. Her mastery is stillness in time, light, and vision.  The following works are influenced by Uta Barth, Abstract Expressionists and their predecessors in romantic painting, I engage in an artistic practice based on the deconstruction of the photographic image and the subversion of the equipment used. The work hovers between landscape and the trace of light, key elements of the traditional understanding of The Sublime.
